There are many researchers, postgraduate and postdoctoral, whose first
language is not English. They produce research reports in which the
science is fine but the language needs 'tweaking'. I have edited
several such reports, including papers intended for publication in
research journals, and PhD and Masters' theses.
I have also 'boiled down' PhD theses into short monographs. This was
for a series on Tropical Health Engineering.
I have worked with the NHS Centre for Reviews and Dissemination,
editing down large reviews of the research literature into shorter,
easily digestible reports for practising professionals.
