My name is Simon Hadlington. I have been writing about science,
technology, engineering, medicine and the environment for the past
20 years or so.
After graduating from the University of London with an honours
degree in biochemistry, I worked briefly as an editorial assistant
on the Journal of General Microbiology. I then joined the East
Anglian Daily Times in Suffolk, one of the country's major regional
morning newspapers, as a trainee reporter.
I left the EADT
after qualifying as a senior journalist to join the news
desk of Nature under the legendary editor John (later Sir John)
Maddox.
In 1988 I went freelance and have since written for many of
the national broadsheets as well as numerous magazines and specialist
publications.
My work falls into three broad categories: writing, editing,
training.
